Q: Will my corten steel design rust away after a few years?
A: No, after the design has weathered, the rusty patina actually forms a protective layer, preventing your designs from further rust and decay.
Q: Can you create a design from my photo? And if so, are there any additional costs involved?
A: Yes we can create a design from your photos. This is a special job we love doing to memorialise your loved ones and passions. There is an additional $40 fee to create the design file from your photo. It will be $40/hr with complex portraits and landscapes usually competed in 2 hrs.
Q: What is Corten?
A: Corten Steel is sometimes refered to as 'weathered steel' and is made of steel alloys. COR-TEN actually refers to corrosion resistance and tensile strength of this steel.
Q: What colour will my garden design be?
A: Corten steel goes through a series of weathering stages from the original grey steel with an oily coating which we use to create your designs, through to the full rusty patina. This takes from between 3-6 months. Most of our products have begun the weathering process when they get to you and have a unique, light rust patina.
